scenes from a cross country move

Better late than never, right?

Jacob managed to fit all our earthly belongings into a mini van. Yes, a mini van. We left our mattress (it was a cheap IKEA one that we never liked) and a few other odds and ends but other than that he fit it all (which is way more than I’d predicted!) We had to stop at the post office to mail a box that wouldn’t fit and since we were down the street, I decided a last treat from Make My Cake was in order. Driving across the George Washington Bridge was bittersweet. But we were relieved to finally be on our way at noon. We stopped the first night in Toledo, OH.

(Hello satellite radio.)

Boxes piled right up to the back of our seats.

The second day we stopped in IA first to visit Jacob’s sister Erin and her kids and then to visit my Grammy. We made it to Lincoln, NE that night.

The third day we drove across never-ending Nebraska and Wyoming and finally made it to my parents house around 9.

Finally on the fourth day we made it to Vegas. Home, ugly home. (I’m sorry, it’s true.)

Great shots! It made me so excited for the day we finally get to make the same trip! :) For now we’ll soak up New York. I’m sure like you, we’ll feel like we’re done before we know it.

I love the pictures. Especially with Taite. She looks so tiny! So the desert isn’t growing on you? Really? But there are so many beautiful shades of brown.

I think Vegas is ugly, too.! Glad someone else agrees with me!

I love the close up of Jacob in his navigator sunglasses. He looks so much more comfortable holding a small baby in the picture with Taite than he did when say Annika was that small.

I grew up in Northern Nevada (Reno) which is so pretty (for a desert), and when I finally made it to Vegas I was shocked by its ugliness too.

Oh, and i love the shot you got of the refection in Jacobs sunglasses – so cool!

The unending browns are worth it to escape the snow, right?
