We heart D.C. It was such a fantastic trip. I love all the history!!
Here are some highlights:

The Bolt Bus is great. Cheap fares, nice buses, wi-fi, and outlets.

White House. Surprisingly small.

Treasury Department.

National Cathedral. Incredible.

Lincoln Memorial

Arlington Cemetery

View from the cemetery. See the pretty cherry blossoms?

Washington Monument

Old Post Office

Capitol Building

Ford’s Theater

Plane @ Air & Space Museum

Love Georgetown. And Cupcakes.
As you can see, the weather was not so great for most of the trip.
I took the point-and-shoot to save on weight/space in my purse but a lot of my photos turned out poorly.
Other details:
We had a lot we wanted to see in those few days but most everything closes at 5:00 so it was hard to get it all in. We went all over the place and saw lots of exteriors but didn’t get to see as many interiors as I’d have liked. I really wanted to see the Library of Congress but it was closed for an event. We weren’t able to catch a tour of Ford’s Theater, which I really wanted to visit. The lines at the National Archives were too long, so we didn’t have time. The Air & Space Museum and The American History Museum were the only museums we were able to see. I wanted to see many of the other Smithsonian museums, as well as the Holocaust and Spy museums. We would have liked to have spent more time in Georgetown. So so much more to see.
I pulled something in my ankle after the first day so that slowed me down a lot. We loved the Westin. Heavenly bed and shower, need I say more? Jacob used my ipod and was able to study while we went around the city. Our favorite restaurant was 2Amy’sPizza near the National Cathedral, thanks to Emily S’s recommendation. We loved the fries at Ollie’s Trolley too. And Jacob ate oysters at Old Ebbitt’s Grill, which totally grossed me out.
Bye, D.C. Hope to see you again soon.
It looks like you had tons of fun! Sorry about your ankle! I lived in DC when I was 8 but I hardly remember anything. We’ve been thinking about taking the boys for spring break but we haven’t decided yet. This makes me want to go!
Hey! Looks like you had a blast. I can’t believe we were in the same town at the same time. It sounds like you were as busy as me and my family. We should’ve got together. So fun to see the pics. I loved georgetown too!!!
looks like a fun trip – i hope to take my family there some day. sorry to hear about your ankle – hope you are on the mend.
You saw a LOT! so happy you guys had fun. SO GLAD you liked 2Amy’s. It is my favorite restaurant, like ever. The pizzas make me die a little bit — what kind did you get?
What a fun trip – you saw A LOT in just a couple of days! Hope the ankle is better now.
That is unfortunate that you couldn’t see what you wanted to see. I was there 4 years ago and was able to see the holocaust museum and it was incredible it was also very moving. You got to feel like on of them it was the most intresting thing I have ever done!
i thought the exact same thing about the white house! lol.
those whirlwind trips are always fun
Those protester signs are freaking hilarious.
How did you hurt your ankle? Cool that you go to see the cherry blossoms. Did the protesters just put up their signs and leave?
I hurt my ankle because I rolled it a couple of times while we were walking. It wouldn’t hurt after it would happen but by the end of the night I could hardly walk!
No, the protesters were still there, there were only like 5 of them. You can see one guy standing behind his sign. And then two middle-aged ladies were standing by the walk way trying to hand out “information” to the people walking up to the capitol. So funny.
ok, so i have to be honest. i’ve never really thought about visiting dc. until this.
it looks & sounds like a great time! & hellllooo cupcakes! yummo!
ps-you 2 are adorable.
