I didn’t want to write about the rest of our wedding day until the pictures were ready. They’re ready now so here’s the details!
Our dinner was at 5:30 in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. This building is absolutely gorgeous and I was delighted to have our dinner there. It’s right next to the Salt Lake Temple so we just walked right over when we were done taking pictures.
Everything was set up beautifully. We had light pink linens. My friend’s mom did all our flowers, including the lovely centerpieces. I tried to keep everything coordinated in the decorations so we wrapped the vases with light orange ribbon and attached our monogram to either side of the vase.

Our favors doubled as our placecards. We ordered personalized fortune cookies and put them into little chinese take out boxes. The placecards had our monogram on them and the guests name, in the same font as the invitations. The table looks like a mess in this picture because people had to look for their box and so they didn’t stay very orderly.

The reason we decided to do personalized fortunes was because we’ve received two really special fortunes in our fortune cookies at special times in our lives. One was right before Jacob left on his mission, literally the last time we had dinner together before he left. My fortune said, “Stop searching everywhere. Happiness is sitting next to you.” I’ve kept that fortune all this time, and I even used it on a scrapbook page about us! The second fortune was in Jacob’s cookie when he proposed. It said, “There are plenty of promises and hope floating around you.” We loved putting these special fortunes in the cookies for our guests (along with a couple others that thanked them for coming.)
Instead of a traditional guestbook, I decided to go a different route. I wanted something small but unique. I got an idea from a guestbook at Michael’s to have our guests write their messages on business card sized pieces of cardstock. Then the cards were slipped into a CUTE light green business card folio from Target. (Which we purchased at 9:00 the night before the wedding…) We had the cards and pens at every table. It turned out great! It looks great all put together and isn’t big to store. At the “guest book table” where we kept the card folio, we had several framed pictures, and a laptop showing a slideshow of our engagement pictures and my bridal pictures. I also had a book that my kindergarteners made for me of “wedding wishes.” I’ve been meaning to scan in some of the pages because they’re hilarious. Everyone loved it.

Our meal was delicious, or so I hear. I was so tired from being out in the heat and strapped into my dress (and oh yeah, hardly getting any sleep the night before ) that I could barely eat. But everyone complimented us on the menu choice! We had a summer salad with strawberries. The main course was cranberry glazed chicken (I think! Hard to remember!) and some yummy veggies. (I made my dad take a picture of his plate!) The dessert was strawberry crepes with the JSMB’s delicious vanilla ice cream. Not to mention the raspberry lemonade (we were kind of on a berry kick) and the famous Lion House rolls.

And, happy day, we got a picture of “the buddies” that actually turned out decent! Everyone’s eyes are open and everyone is looking at the camera! Good job guys!

Then here’s us. Happy as can be.

(Stay tuned for the honeymoon pics!)
Beautiful!
Haha! For one of the first times I get to be not the 25th post! Yay! So the pictures turned out fantastic! It was such a beautiful dinner! Jane had her’s upstairs in one of the other rooms… it had a beautiful view… but it was wallpapered darkly… I love how light and soft everything was at yours. So. Yes, it was SO much fun to sit and chat with you guys for a while! So much fun to be with people that are so excited about everything in life! Any luck with the home hunt? I’ll let you know if I hear anything great. As for Yatzy… who knows! I haven’t played since I was in elementary school. We probably love it. We’ll also have to play Sequence (another nice game that can be played with two). We’ll look at next week… I HAVE to get Independent Study done before I can play… OH gosh!
awwww
everything looks sooooo beautiful, ek!!
beautiful, beautiful photos. Sounds like it was a perfect evening.
I must use that idea for the guest book. It’s so much nicer than just having people write their name as they walk in the room. Can’t wait for more pictures!
How beautiful! I love the favour fortunes – how sweet and personal!
Love it!! I love weddings that are personalized!! Did you have a reception too or just a dinner?
It’s all so beautiful!!!
Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow everything is gorgeous. I love you guys together. Too adorable. And many ideas for my own wedding… whenever that will be! ha
I honestly don’t remember ever seeing a cuter wedding dinner and I have been to a lot.
You two look so good together. And it’s so neat to see everything coordinated like that. Have you had time to scrapbook any of it yet?
Everything just looks PERFECT.
Wow Em. It all looks so nice. I forgot that you hadn’t really posted any details yet! Your dad did a great job with the photos. The whole thing really just looks so fabulous. Can’t wait to see more.

YES! I’m happy that you were able to get a normal picture of all of us. Paul and I are not very photogenic… Anyway, I hope you continue to enjoy your summer! Love ya!
Emily,
Everything is just beautiful! Thanks for sharing.
I’m so glad you’re documenting your wedding details now. I’ve been married for almost 4 years and I totally forgot tons of stuff about my wedding already. I so wished I would have journaled or scrapbooked more of it!
Oh it looks like it was a wonderful, wonderful night for you two! The dinner sounds delicious, and not too “heavy,” know what I mean? The perfect summer treat! Love that last picture of you, too!
xoxo
Katie

That is just so beautiful! You will be happy forever!
I don’t want anyone to ever say you can’t have a nice wedding with only a short time to plan! We are proof that you can get married quickly and still have a great wedding
So many fun ideas and decor. Love it.
